Hula Hoopla

Have you seen this adorable vandalism? I'm apparently years behind because Bryan tried to explain it to me last night, and I'd never seen this. It's awesome, and I'm hoping and praying that I see one in real life very soon.

N Crowd

Last weekend, Bryan and I had our first show as members of the N Crowd. It was exciting and really fun. We are looking forward to more shows, more fun and more hanging out with our new friends.

Because it came up in my Google Alert, check out what the veteran Jessica Snow says about Bryan Buckley, king of improv:
These new members are great fun. I may actually stop doing games with anyone but Bryan Buckley because he is the best. We also got the similarly-named Alyssa Buckley, the similarly-to-me-named Jessica Ross and the crazy-named Vegas Lancaster. Yep. I wish to give props to all of them. We had great people audition and we could have taken eight of them, but then Bryan and I would have never gotten our stage time.

YAY NEW N CROWDERS!
!

It's going to be a great season of comedy.

Germs

I'm currently taking a Digital Art course at Ursinus College. My professor is awesome, young and really good at what he's teaching us. I'm learning a lot, and I can't wait to keep learning more techniques to be more awesome. I'm hoping this is the first of many (free) classes as the wife of a professor.

Our first project was to take three of the fifty stock images he distributed and create one piece of art with meaning. Or, if finding meaning was not something we could achieve, we were to strive for a feeling, mood or unity in the piece.

And I came up with what I like to call Germs:

Life on e-Zzzzzzzzzzz Street

After a crazy weekend of 4am bedtimes and 9am wakeups, I've been exhausted. Last night, we went to bed at 10:30 and just woke up. That's a total of nine hours of sleep. It feels as good as I thought it would. I'm definitely going to try again tonight.

For Better or For Fucked the Hell Up

I'm furious with religious people at the moment who continue to claim that gay marriage will ruin the sanctity of marriage. The institution of marriage is not itself sacred. Certainly, some marriages are sacred, but the institution of marriage is not sacred (anymore).

Let's talk about who can get married:
1.) A man and a woman who are truly in love
2.) A man and a woman who are in love and have had premarital sex
3.) A man and his virtual girlfriend
4.) A man and a woman in Vegas, knowing last names not required
5.) A man and a woman who have a friend who was ordained online
6.) A man and a woman who have continuous cohabitation otherwise known as Common Law Marriage (think of all the premarital sex)
7.) A man and his lady cousin (only in some states)
8.) A man and a lady friend of his who wants US residency
9.) A man needing assistance on his medical bills and a woman with great health benefits
10.) A man and a woman who just don't want to wait any longer to have sex
11.) A man and a woman who will surely get divorced (43-50% of marriages end in divorce)

I'd say the majority of those lack any sort of sanctity. Let's face it: marriage as an institution in America has been snatched by the secular world. Who wouldn't enjoy a legal life-long commitment to a (or in some cases, your favorite) person in the world - and enjoy all the wonderful benefits? Marriage is no longer just a religious commitment. Letting gays marry does not hurt a religious marriage any more than the divorced man worshipping in a congregation or any more than Tiger Woods and his soon-to-be ex-wife.

Because what makes a marriage important or true is the two people involved. It's relative. Surely, everyone can agree: There are some marriages with two individuals who are in love, who marry because they can't imagine spending the rest of their lives apart from each other. And then, there are some people who barely know each other and get married after winning a jackpot in Vegas (Vegas hands out 95,000 marriage certificates a year). There's definitely a difference.

I'm just fed up with religious people using the Bible as grounds for discrimination. This Jesus who tells you to hate on gay marriage probably would show more love than you are showing. And all this hatred for homosexual marriage seems really pointed. I'd like to see Christians get their shit together: if you're going after the sanctity of marriage, take a look at some other existing policies (see above). Because Christians aren't slamming them or even offering their Christian criticism from their high cross, I can't help but think they just hate gays. And that, my friend, is what we call discrimination. Not religion. And hopefully the courts will make this right, as they have for interracial couples.

Let's Get It On...Because it's Good For You

There are so many reasons: physical fitness, intimacy with your partner, relaxing way to enter into sleep, it's free, but here are three awesome (and surprising) reasons why you should put the moves on your partner today.

Prevent cancer through sex. A number of studies show that men who ejaculate on a regular basis are more than 30% less likely to develop prostate cancer.1 Regular ejaculations help flush out the prostate, which may help curb the development of prostate cancer

Relieves your headache. Research shows that sex can alleviate an aching noggin, especially in women. The endorphins and corticosteroids released have an analgaesic effect, alleviating the pain of headaches, arthritis, cramps and body aches. "Endorphins are a natural painkiller," says Dr. Russell, president of the Australasian Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine. The production of oestrogen in women may also ward off period pain.

Men who do more housework get laid more often. ''Women's feelings about their husband were shaped by perceptions of fairness around housework,'' says Barbara Pocock, the director of the Centre for Work and Life at the University of South Australia. ''If the resentment factor was high that's when their sex life was not great. The best sex aid a man could use was a vacuum cleaner.'' Not only will you be getting more in the bedroom, but you'll have a clean house!

Skype Me

We got Bryan's parents a webcam for Christmas, yanking them into this decade. And then we set up skype for them. Now we can chat with Bryan's parents, my parents, all three of our sisters, my grandparents and several of our friends from college and NC.

If you aren't on skype, now is the time. You see that crazy man on the left? He's on skype. You don't want to be less cool than him. I promise.
