I want to do a post about Bradley and his six month update. Also want to do an update on our new life, how parenting is going and what is different than I expected.
I went grocery shopping today. Alone. It was glorious. No husband to hurry me along or to be embarrassed when I ask the deli lady if I can try three different hams before deciding on one. No baby to whine halfway through the trip. Just me, my list and the food.
Everyone is sick but me. I don't even have a headache. No sniffles. I'm impressed. And I have no reason why I'm not sick. I kiss my flu baby whenever I can!
Our Christmas tree and stockings are still up. We can't let go. Or we are super lazy.
I posted a pretty personal video on Facebook. I wanted to share with a lot of close family and it was easier to do it on Facebook. I guess I'm not that private.
I have lost five pounds in two weeks. How? I don't know. Running like crazy from home to work to home to work and nursing my son. Keep it coming off! I'm seven pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight!
I'm addicted to impractical jokers. I can watch the same episode a few times in a row and still laugh.
It's cold. And I'm terrible at layering. Or wearing scarves, boots, hats or gloves. I just wear a normal outfit with a peacoat: skirt, top, heels and jacket. It's the Florida in me.
There's nothing cuter than a fat baby. Except MY fat baby.

The fluuuuuuu
Man, it's been a tough week.
He had a bad cough and a runny nose and a fever. I told Bryan we had to take him to the doctor. Bryan said if I really thought so, we could.
Good thing we went: Bradley has the flu.
Too young for meds besides Tylenol. Too sick for the flu shot.
So we called the nanny who was supposed to watch him, and she's fine but we don't want her to catch it. Bryan and I are switching off watching him. It's tough, but I guess this is what you gotta do.
I hate that he has the flu. But man am I proud of my mom instinct!
And proud of the little dude: in good spirits even when sick!

Big day
Today is a big day for Bradley.
We gave him real food today as we try out BLW. He had some carrots and noodles from our chicken noodle soup. Of course he didn't eat anything but the spoon.
We also got him footie pajamas and are trying his first night of sleep unswasdled.
Dude's growing up.

Life is a box of takeout
I feel like since Bradley was born, there's never enough time for everything.
For working out.
For laundry.
For chores.
For game nights with friends.
For responding to emails from friends.
For cooking.
Nowadays, it's sleep, wake, play with baby, run to work, work work work, lunch break, work work work, come home, play with baby, think about dinner, decide to order takeout, talk about life and our day while playing with baby, eat, put baby to sleep, talk and watch tv or play games. Rinse repeat.
My extra time is so rare.
And I suppose this is the new normal.

Celebrate.
I got it.
After four different asks, and three different title offers, I got it.
Don't give up, ladies. Be tough. Fight for what you deserve.
My favorite line during the negotiation that I wrote: "Titles are an indicator of responsibility."
Truth.
Thursday, I was told. I called my parents and Bryan's parents and sisters and we went out for a steak dinner and ice cream. Today we are going to Tulsa so I can upgrade my wardrobe to fit my new title. I'm going for a Leslie Knope wardrobe.
I feel validated.

Love
Love is blowing raspberries.
Love is fat babies.
Love is ordering takeout even when there's plenty of food in the house but we are all too lazy to be bothered to cook.
Love is cuddling up and watching The Campaign while your fat baby sleeps.

Lazy weekend
I've been so in the moment that I haven't been blogging as much as I'd like.
Today has been perfect. Actually the weekend has been perfect. Thursday night we went out with work people for a steak dinner. Friday night we went out by ourselves and had dinner, wine and bread pudding by the fire at our local fancy restaurant. Yesterday we lounged and put Bradley to bed early so we could have a date night in - and finished the champagne we bought for New Years but never opened.
Today, though, has been great. We slept in, hung out in pjs, ran to lunch and leisurely ate burgers and talked about china while Bradley just chilled, then we went grocery shipping and this afternoon I've been cooking Bryan's moms spaghetti recipe. Also i chopped up fruit for the week. So dinner is pretty much made - and once Bradley goes to bed, we can have another leisurely night in.
I'm happy being home, being with my family.

Back to work and New Years Resolutions
After a day back to work, I couldn't help myself: I "made" Bryan order a greasy pizza from the Italian restaurant next to our house and while he was gone, I inhaled a Hershey's bar.
Ooof.
I guess I might be a stress eater.
Don't worry. My New Years resolution isn't about losing weight or eating healthy or running or any of that fitness shizz.
My New Years resolutions:
1.) Be Present: my phone no longer is attached to me. No checking email or Facebook during dinner, watching tv or whatever. Hang out in the moment, no distractions. Don't worry about tomorrow or yesterday or three years from now. Focus on the right now.
2.) Cherish the family I have right now. The baby in my arms, the young husband holding my hand, the sisters before they are mothers or too cool for me, the parents (all four of them), and the trips we have with all of them. I especially want to soak up my little family of three before Bradley grows up to a toddler. I want to cherish his baby-hood.
3.) Be Calm: I'm mostly happy, but often I can be reactionary. As in, we are out of butter. HOLY SHIT THERE'S NO BUTTER! I AM GOING TO SCRAP ALL DINNER PLANS AND SULK UNTIL BRYAN OFFERS TO RUN TO SUBWAY. Relax. Be okay. It's all good. I'm healthy, safe and okay. Chiiiiiiiiill.

2013
The start of a new year.
And here I am cuddled up with my sweet husband and my cute baby.
Here's to a wonderful start of the year! And many more days like this.
(Tomorrow, I return to work for a whirlwind three days of hosting our Chinese partner.)
