Blind Book Date

A good library will never be too neat, or too dusty, because somebody will always be in it, taking books off the shelves and staying up late reading them.
~Lemony Snicket

This Valentine's Day, the John Vaughan Library presents its First Annual Blind Book Date. It's a program where patrons fill out a questionnaire with questions about their reading turn-offs and their typical book "type" that they "date."

What I thought would be a cute idea turned out to be a popular idea. I guess people have forgotten that libraries are home to thousands of books, and one of them could be the next favorite book.

I received 305 submissions, and I and my team of hard-working, book-pulling, due date-stamping students matched each of the submissions with their perfect match. Today more books are being checked out than any day in JVL history. Which is fantastic: we want the books off the shelves and in people's hands, bringing back the old school hobby of reading printed text.

Get a book! There's no reason to be alone on Valentine's Day.

Not when I'm Circulation Supervisor!
